BYU Grads Release Investing Game to Help Users Understand the Stock Market

My name is Tanner, and I am the Brand Manager for the above-mentioned company—StockMotion. StockMotion is a startup consisting of recent college grads, boasting a diverse team of young entrepreneurs. After finding that a majority of people feel anxiety regarding their financial situations, we worked to produce an experience that would help average people and new investors learn how to navigate the stock market. In March of 2020, StockMotion competed in several Brigham Young University entrepreneurship competitions, taking home both first place and the audience choice award at BYU’s App Competition, as well as BYU’s nomination for the Lassonde Opportunity Quest Competition. More recently, Benzinga named StockMotion the “Best Upcoming Startup” in a list of “Top Tech Startups in Provo, Utah”—a list touting such names as Podium and Yoodilize. We are excited to announce that StockMotion has

officially launched as of May 14! It is available, free of charge, on both the App and Google Play stores.

Why did we create this app? In the words of StockMotion’s founder, Kaden Beckstead, “I realized that many of my friends were investing, but that few of them were taking the time to research and understand what they were actually doing.” Eventually, they started losing money and, as a result, their “zeal for investing was gone nearly as quickly as it came about.” StockMotion is built around the goal of “creating opportunities for new investors to learn time-proven investment strategies so that when they begin investing on their own, they already have a solid foundation from which to begin a long and successful journey in the stock market.”

We at StockMotion are passionate about equipping new investors with foundational knowledge and experience that will help them become successful investors. Many current apps and articles encourage the “get-rich-quick” mentality when it comes to investing. StockMotion, however, promotes research-oriented strategies drawn from the experiences of thousands of successful investors over decades of time. With StockMotion’s recent release, we hope that you will join us in spreading the word about a new and engaging way to learn how to invest.
